One of the many things that Maine is famous for is its crop of wild blueberries. Hand-harvested from thousands of acres of blueberry "barrens", they are a powerhouse of nutrition, pack a wallop of taste, and are a lovely little thing to behold. This painting captures the various stages of ripening fruit right close-up, dew drops and all! Here's my haiku for them:

Maine's little blue gems

short season beauties

eat them like a bear.

Dyes are used for the painting and become an integral part of the silk fabric after it is steam set for permanency. Painting on silk is an ancient art form first practiced by the Chinese thousands of years ago on their venerable silk fabrics...a practice I am proud to carry on today.

The original artwork has been sold. However, prints and various items with this image are available through my gallery page on Fine Art America. Click here to see them.

Care Instructions

Hand wash in warm water with a delicate soap. There will likely be color escaping. Swish it a few times and be sure not to let it sit. Add a splash of white vinegar to rinse water. Rinse again. Hang to dry. For flat scarves iron with steam. For Activity Scarves, wring out excess moisture, twist the scarf and wrap it around a towel bar to ensure you maintain the creases.
