Without bees to pollinate our food crops, what would we eat? Their numbers may be coming back, but we must continue to be diligent with our use of pesticides and poisons on our farms and in our own yards. This is my own small homage to the amazing, industrious, bee that produces that golden nectar we have enjoyed for thousands of years and keeps our crops growing.
This work has been hand-painted on silk using textile dyes instead of paints. After the painting is completed, the silk steamed to set the dyes and make them permanent. The silk is then stretched over a padded board and framed without glass, like a painting on canvas, to ensure the viewer can enjoy the sheen of the natural silk and dyes. Framed dimensions: 12 x 13
